Inside each of us there are our own "black holes" hidden away — voids resembling whirlpools. Sometimes there are many of them, sometimes only one, but enormous and all-consuming. It is frightening to approach the edge, because you can lose your footing and fall. Getting out of such a hole is incredibly difficult; it pulls you in like a magnet. And yet the farther away we are from it, the weaker its pull becomes, the steadier the ground beneath our feet, and the more freely we breathe.
